Frequently Asked Questions — Engagement & RFQ

What buyers ask before engaging Bristol for a quote.

How quickly does Bristol respond to a new RFQ?

Within one business day of receipt during normal business hours (Mon–Fri 7:00a–4:30p ET).

The first response is a recommended next step:

  • Phone discussion to clarify scope
  • Site visit recommendation for substantial-scope projects
  • Budgetary number based on what was described, if feasible

Detailed engineering quotes typically take 1 to 3 weeks depending on scope complexity.

What information should I include in my first message to Bristol?

The information that helps us respond most usefully:

  • Part being produced or process being improved
  • Annual volume forecast and production timing
  • Takt time or cycle target
  • Key tolerances or quality requirements
  • Current production method (manual, semi-automated, aging legacy equipment, etc.)
  • Target budget range if one exists
  • Target timeline for delivery

Drawings or photos help. Not having them doesn't block the first conversation — we'll work with what you have and identify what we need to get to a meaningful quote.

Does Bristol welcome site visits during qualification?

Yes. Site visits are typical for substantial-scope projects and welcomed for any prospective customer who wants to evaluate the facility and team before committing.

A typical visit is a half-day, covering:

  • Engineering offices and design team
  • Shop floor walkthrough (machining cells, fabrication, runoff space)
  • Time with leadership and project management
  • Discussion of the prospective project

Schedule by phone at 574-848-5354 or through the RFQ form.

What if my project doesn't fit any of the listed capabilities?

Describe it anyway. The capability list is built around the work we do most often; we routinely take projects that combine capabilities in non-obvious ways or that fall outside our typical scope.

We will be honest if it's not a fit and recommend an appropriate alternative when we can — that honesty is part of the relationship we try to maintain in this industry.
